My parents sponsored individuals from Vietnam in the mid 70's.
One individual in particular was a Buddhist Monk that spent 14 years in
a monastery. As a monk, he was a practioner of Kung Fu.
There were several others that came through that studied Kung Fu.
In 1984, my parents found Sun Yi's and asked my brother and I if we
wanted to join. From the very first lesson, I was hooked.
In late 1989, I began to lose interest, due to my pursuit of a college
education. Even though I was not a practitioner of Tae Kwon Do, I
continued to be interested in Martial Arts and Self Defense
Techniques. In December of 2004, my daughter became a
member. Watching her first testing, I became hooked again.
Now that I'm a member again, my high blood pressure is under control
and I have lost weight. Unlike my first go around with Tae Kwon
Do, I get the most pleasure by helping students succeed.
